The IIIHR is a non-profit
educational institution attached to Inje
University, located in Kimhae,
Kyungnam, Korea. The institute started with a program to invite a few
young Korean Americans, who were adopted by American families as
children, to live on campus for a period of four months, to study the
Korean language, history and culture, and to arrange short trips to
different cultural or historical sites around the country.

Though the institute is providing the
program only for the Korean adoptees, it will develop various programs to
provide service for various young overseas Koreans including the ones
form emigrant families

1) Education of the Korean language, history and culture for the young
overseas Koreans
2) Promoting mutual understanding through mating the young overseas Koreans
with Korean families and Institutions
3) Encouraging affection for and understanding of Korea by visiting
cultural or historical sites
4) Broadening relationship and exchange between parents and Korea
5) Advice to the policy making for the overseas Korean
6) Sponsorship for the education and support for the overseas Koreans
7) Improvement of the global role of Korea through overseas Koreans

The spring program starts at the beginning of March
each year, and the autumn program commences at the beginning of September.
All participants admitted to the program must pay a
registration fee of U$600. They are also required to teach English
conversation classes for middle or high school students for a few hours a
day, five days a week. The University will cover room and board
including meals. The students can freely enjoy facilities including
PCs, weight training gym among others. They can enjoy either free
weekends on their own or home stays arranged by the IIIHR.

Any Korea-born adult adoptee who had been raised by a
foreign family can be a candidate for the program. A Candidate just
fill up the blanks in the Application Form and e-mail it to the manager
in the IIIHR (heejungkim79@hotmail.com
or townkim@hotmail.com).

We welcome donations from various private or public
groups or individuals. Every donation will be reported in the Institute's
quarterly magazine and the contributors will be arranged to a variety of
cultural activities and trips with the participating adoptees. Prospective

Inje University). Non-cash Donations will also be
encouraged. The participants who have completed the program could make
small donations to the program on a voluntary basis in order to attract
more adoptees.
